Successful implementation of two-week measurement campaign at Aumüller Druck GmbH & Co. KG in Regensburg

As part of the AiF/IGF research project “Magie-KI – Control of ink-water balance by AI”, a measurement campaign crucial to the research project was successfully carried out at the printing company Aumüller Druck GmbH & Co. KG in Regensburg. For a period of two weeks, a measuring system was integrated into the printing units of a Speedmaster XL 106 sheetfed offset press from Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG, which continuously recorded temperature, moisture and gas sensor data during 3-shift production. Mr. Holle and Mr. Knödl intend to use the data collected to provide a machine learning model that will intelligently regulate the amount of fountain solution still set manually on offset presses today.
