Silver Award at the 10th ESTROT Congress in Paris

3D Melt-Spin Bioprinting as a Scalable Platform for Synthetic Acellular Dermal Matrices

2026/07/03 by

Sebastian Scholpp from the Regenerative Medicine research group attended the 10th Congress of the European Society of Tissue Regeneration in Orthopedics and Traumatology (ESTROT), which took place in Paris from June 11 to 13, 2026, and was awarded the Silver Award for the second-best abstract. The presented paper, titled “3D Melt-Spin Bioprinting as a Scalable Platform for Synthetic Acellular Dermal Membrane (hADM) Fabrication,” focused on the development of a synthetic acellular dermis as an alternative to the human acellular dermal matrix (hADM) in the single-stage Masquelet technique, a clinically highly relevant approach for treating critical bone defects. The project is based at the Rhine-Main Universities (RMU) in collaboration with Goethe University Frankfurt. Congratulations, Sebastian!

The conference vividly demonstrated how closely basic research and clinical practice are linked today in the field of regenerative medicine. When biomaterial-based scaffold concepts are designed with the reconstructive needs of the operating room in mind, it becomes clear just how much potential lies in the translational focus of this research.
