Project “Schneidmarkenerkennung”

In Post Processing cutting stacks of paper in order to process the printed sheets further represents a critical process step and a bottleneck for automation. Cutting marks define where the stacks should be cut during Post Processing on its way to a finalized print product. During the printing process deformation on the sheets in the form of elongation waviness occur. These deformations necessitate a comparison between recorded job data in the Job Definition Format (JDF) and the real sheet in order to make the data related to the position of the cutting marks usable. An important step on the way to a fully automated cutting process is therefore the optical recognition of the position of cutting marks on the printed sheet and closing the loop with corrected positioning.
